Recipe picks for
a summer cookout

Broccoli, avocado, and lime salad, via Deliciously Ella.

Headed to a barbecue, a terrace, or anywhere warm and sunny for a dinner gathering, but not sure what to cook? Your summer dinner inspiration is here, with the help of some of our favorite go-to recipe spots, Hemsley & Hemsley, Deliciously Ella, and Goop — all perfect for a little bit of health with our hedonism.

Starter: Broccoli, avocado, and lime salad

Fresh, and intensely green, via Deliciously Ella.

Tasked with bringing a starter to the party? A salad is a fail safe option, that allows you to be quite simple (so easy to throw together!) while still looking quite impressive depending on your ingredients, and easily adaptable to your tastes. We love Deliciously Ella’s broccoli, avocado, and lime salad because it has everything: it’s fresh and green, has a great mixture of textures, and goes with a lot of other dishes in a summer spread.

Main: Socca pizza

The main can be a hard one — it’s difficult to please a lot of tastes, so we picked something from Hemsley & Hemsley that allows people to choose their own toppings and flavor combinations, meaning less work for you, and happy guests all around. Socca Pizza has a chickpea flour base that makes for a thin, healthy pizza, and the possibility of toppings are endless. Go for a classic like tomato, mozzarella, and basil, or go a little more exotic with a fig, gorgonzola, and proscuitto combination.

Dessert: Nectarine and blackberry crisp

Perfect with any combinations of berries you have on hand. Image via Goop.

For our last recipe, we picked something that walks the balance between healthy and sweet, while being completely summer appropriate, and adaptable to what fresh fruits you have available where you live. We looked to Goop, champion of all things wholesome and good, but definitely self-indulgent. This nectarine and blackberry crisp is sweet, fresh, and most of all, is a crowd pleaser, no matter the palette.
